All communities are characterized by ways of interacting, determined by norms and practices, policies and laws. Below we describe those policies and practices that govern our learning community. We develop our humanity and individuality, said John Dewey, in the 'midst of community embued with mutual respect, mutual toleration, give and take, and the pooling of experiences.' We have tried to design policies and procedures founded on these principles.
The Ph.D. Program reserves the right to modify or discontinue policies and/or program requirements. New policies or changes to existent policies are posted on the website on an annual basis, prior to the new academic term. In rare instances, new or modified policies may be announced during the term. In this latter case, direct mailings or electronic mail will inform members of the community.
